GREAT WALL OF CHINA History of the Great Wall of China: The Great Wall of China is the national military defense project in the cold weapon war era with the longest time and the largest amount of construction in the world. It condenses the sweat and wisdom of our ancestors and is the symbol and pride of the Chinese nation. According to historical records, since the Warring States period, more than 20 vassals and feudal dynasties have built the Great Wall. The earliest was the Chu Kingdom. To defend the nomadic or enemy countries in the north, they began to build the Great Wall. Subsequently, Qi, Yan, Wei, Zhao, Qin, and other countries also began to build their own Great Wall for the same purpose. After Qin unified the six countries, the famous emperor Qin Shihuang sent Meng Tian northward to the Xiongnu, connecting the Great Walls of various countries. From Linyao in the west to Liaodong in the east, it stretched for more than 10,...
TESLA OR MARCONI: WHO INVENTED THE RADIO?
On the occasion of the Nikola Tesla Exhibition in Milan, the debate on the authorship of the invention that changed the twentieth century is rekindled. Many say it's Marconi but many think that the Italian has robbed Tesla
Guglielmo Marconi is universally recognized as the "dad" of radio, patented on June 2, 1896, in London and destined to change the way we communicate forever. Yet there are people who, strong enough arguments and even a court ruling, say that in fact much of the work is to be attributed to Nikola Tesla, the brilliant scientist who had the misfortune of seeing recognized for others throughout his life the many merits of his intuitions.
So who invented the radio? Tesla or Marconi? in the last few weeks the debate has started to get hot again ...
PARALLEL WORKS?
The controversy stems from the fact that both Tesla and Marconi operated in very similar fields around the same time to develop a wireless telegraphy technology - which then led to the invention of the radio - capable of sending and receiving messages using the waves electromagnetic.
As already mentioned, Marconi first patented his idea (which in 1909 would also be worth the Nobel Prize for physics shared with Carl Ferdinand Braun ). At the same time, however, Tesla had already achieved the same results and indeed had managed to extend the radio signal much further than Marconi's machine could do.
Tesla himself was aware of the fact that his Italian colleague was about to "blow" the idea to him, so much so that one day he seems to have confided to one of his collaborators: «Marconi is a good boy, let him continue. Even though he's using 17 of my patents »
FROM THE EXHIBITION TO THE INTERNET
In reality, therefore, the discussion regarding the identity of the true inventor of the radio never stopped.
As early as 1943, the American Supreme Court ruled that Marconi's patent was a copy of Tesla's work, effectively denying a previous judgment of 1911 issued by the United Kingdom High Court which instead recognized the authorship of the invention to the Italian. So the same jurisprudence never agreed on the matter!
On the occasion of the Nikola Tesla Exhibition, the interactive exhibition-museum that has been hosted at the Ventura XV space in Milan since 5 October 2019, the "Tesla or Marconi" issue has re-emerged with arrogance, sparking a real controversy among the supporters of both sides.
"Tesla was a genius robbed and forgotten by history books: he was defrauded by numerous characters, including Edison and Marconi, and he died alone and in poverty - said Mauro Rigoni, CEO of Venice Exhibition, the organizing company of the exhibition - With this exhibition we want to honor him: in our homes, we use daily objects that derive from Tesla's inventions and experiments, such as the radio ».
The Marconi Foundation has not yet officially responded to the attack (if you can call it that) but in the meantime, the discussion on Social is already mounted:
"Many offend the figure of Tesla just to attribute the authorship of the radio to the Italian Marconi, for a feeling of blind nationalism - a Facebook user says - But the sentences, as well as the facts, speak clearly: Tesla has been robbed".
Will light ever be shed on the matter? Only time will tell us ...
